Last Thursdays with Rakesh Surana

Every Last Thursday of Gregorian month, Bikalpa – an Alternative jointly organize the “Last Thursday’s” event at Biratnagar in collaboration with Hotel Namaskar, Makalu Television and Merryland College (BBA) Biratnagar.   Objective of the program is to disseminate the ideas and knowledge about entrepreneurship through the personal sharing of successful entrepreneurs. Also the program creates an opportunity to do networking and share ideas among the participants.

On 30th March 2017, Entrepreneur Rakesh Surana joined us for the 37th series of ‘Last Thursdays’ at Makalu Television for a discussion on the existing scenario of industry in the Biratnagar with over more than 90 people.

The program started with moderator Basanta Adhikari, Bikalpa – an Alternative Director addressing the audience. He introduced everyone about the program and shared the objective of program.

Mr. Surana shared his journey of an entrepreneur and his insights on essentials that are crucial to become a successful entrepreneur. He expressed, in the last few decades, many people have emerged as leading professionals in almost every field of work and one such area is entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurship is significant contributor towards the economic growth of the country. After completing his B Com he was involved in the business and today he had established himself as well-known entrepreneur in his area. Everybody should at first learn to do the things and then only they will earn which will help to benefit the country. In a journey of any things you cannot do everything by yourself so you need multiple groups to do the things.

Challenges Nepalese entrepreneurs have to overcome

As we know there is no friendly entrepreneurial ecosystem here in our country.  We had to survive from 18 hrs of Load shedding current crisis in industry. Yet, our industry had survived. We are lacking behind on higher financial and faster access to market. The most inherent problem that Nepalese entrepreneurs face is finding support and infrastructural facilities, skill training which is affecting them to build confidence to take up the challenges and grow themselves in their career path.

What we needs to give?

One of the primary things that need to change is the mindset about the business, He urged we should look beyond the traditional way of doing business and focus on modern technological concept for embracing new way of doing business. Education is essential, for it leads to economic empowerment. He also added there is no dearth of entrepreneurial spirit but the lack of education, exposure, finance, and opportunities holding us back. So, for sustainable economic development, it is necessary to build an entrepreneurial society.

Conclusion

While concluding his speech he said you must be honest and should do hard labor only then your success lands. Surana asked to accept for challenges so that it will help to develop yourself . We face crisis in every sector but we also get opportunity that’s it is interesting.  We all have quality and it’s up to us to rise the quality and use them. Lastly he also shared unless both male and female work equally and together we can’t develop our home and country.
