Last Thursdays with Devi Acharya

Every Last Thursday of Gregorian month, Bikalpa – an Alternative jointly organize the “Last Thursday’s” event at Biratnagar in collaboration with Hotel Namaskar, Makalu Television and Merryland College (BBA) Biratnagar.   Objective of the program is to disseminate the ideas and knowledge about entrepreneurship through the personal sharing of successful entrepreneurs. Also the program creates an opportunity to do networking and share ideas among the participants.

On 31st Aug 2017, Entrepreneur Devi Acharya joined us for the 40th series of ‘Last Thursdays’ at Hotel Namaskar  for a discussion on the existing scenario of industry in the Biratnagar with over more than 60 people.

The program started with moderator Suman Rai, addressing the audience. He introduced everyone about the program and shared the objective of program.

He was born in Bhojpur, where he completed his schooling. He completed his graduation from Nepal Commerce Campus Kathmandu. During his initial phase of life he worked in cycle repairing shop and in security guard. For small tenure he also run Vegetable shop. While working in security guard he collected the money for the organization.

At present, he is working as Regional Coordinator for the Waste management group in Biratnagar. During the program he highlights the major program and services provide by the group. As we know the solid waste management is the one of the major problem of city. He said the program is focused to clean the city making it clean. Though it is hard to change the mindset of the people but he intends to have plans of tie-ups with some other community based organization to work together, he reveals. Also sharing his experience while working in Lalitpur, he learned how to manage solid waste. He also put forth that main problem for waste management is we throw paper, plastic everywhere and anywhere we like. We must maintain waste in home till people will come to retrieve it. It is also our responsibility to keep our city clean. Acharya structured his talk, moving from his initial days to his work which met with enthusiastic response from the audience.
