Interaction program at ” Richmond Fellowship Morang ” Biratnagar

Bikalpa an Alternative hosted the Interaction program in collaboration with Rich Mond Fellowship Morang Biratnagar for Bikalpa Fellowship Members on 12th November 2022. The Program is part of the Monthly Discussion Series. The Program’s key focus was comprehending the Fellowship Members on contemporary socio-issues and discussing with the fellows regarding further engagements.

Mr. Suman Rai, Program Coordinator of Bikalpa – an Alternative, started the Program with a welcome and introduction session with each participant. He also introduced the guest speaker to the participant and shared the objectives of the Program. After that, the program session was handover to Mr. Suraj Joshi.

Mr Joshi  started the session by welcoming all the participants and sharing his experience as a drug user and his struggles to overcome it. During his talk, he shared some primary steps regarding the Drug Addiction period: curiosity, sometimes, Regular and Habitual or Dependency. Continuing the discussion, he also named some of the usual addictive substances and recalled his yesterdays.

He said drug addiction has become a social problem because the number of users is increasing, and the government doesn’t have a proper plan to regulate it. He said that drug is a habit problem due to which they have lost their family support, respect, love, and care. He also said drug addicts are stills perceived negatively in our community. They have to face discrimination from their family and in society.

He also gave the information service regarding the 90-day Program of the Rehabilitation center. He also shared how his organization is giving service to underprivileged people who don’t have good financial conditions. He further encouraged the participants to take leadership roles, raise their voices for contemporary issues, and work for the betterment of society. It was an engaging session filled with key insights. The session wrapped up with a series of questions by the attendees, which the speakers duly answered.

Following that, we had another session on Monthly updates and planning for a further event with Bikalpa Fellowship Members. Mr. Sarwagya raj Pandey quickly recalled the last session agenda and also asked participants to submit their ideas and initiatives that they plan to do in the upcoming days at their respective locations. We also discussed the Blood Scarcity problem of Biratnagar and formed a group of 10 people to mitigate the problem. Some participants also expressed their ideas of conducting a Blood donation program in their own ward. The overall meeting discussion was fruitful, and all the Fellowship members agreed on working out an action plan for the program in their ward.
