The Last Thursdays with Rajan Shrestha

September 24 2015 Every Last Thursday of Gregorian month, Bikalpa an Alternative jointly organize the “Last Thursday’s” event at Biratnagar in coordination with Hotel Namaskar, E4N and Makalu Television. Objective of the program is to disseminate the ideas and knowledge about entrepreneurship through the sharing of successful entrepreneurs. Also the program creates an opportunity to do networking and share ideas. On the episode of September, Entrepreneur Mr Rajan Shrestha, Managing Director of Hotel Swagatam , Executive Committee Member of Hotel Association Nepal, was invited as a guest speaker at the program.

The program made the first move with a introduction Session. Suman Rai, Program Assistant of Bikalpa an Alternative moderated the program welcoming the participants and guest speaker. The objective of the Program was Shared by Ms. Reema Shrestha.

After the welcome Speech our Guest Speaker Mr. Rajan Shrestha deliberated his Speech. The program made the first move with a introduction of his childhood memories. He was born in Dharan. He passed his SLC exam in 2036B.S. After 2036 BS revolution the country went into the politics. With the involvement in Student politics joining the Student wings Nepal Student union. He did some political work. After returning from Kathmandu National Convention he left the Politics. It was his first hand experience and was thrilled to share his story with Youth. He started his Entrepreneurial Carrier through Agricultural Farming. While doing the farming he realized that due to the lack improper Agricultural policy there is no good market for the Nepali Farmer. There is no insurance facility and it is hard to recover the production cost. So he quit it and In 2042 he started another Partnership business of beer dealership at Itihari with didn’t last for a year. After that co-partnering with his brother he worked and run the Hotel Namaskar for 8 years. He also completed his Bachelor degree from Mahendra Morang College. He also shared that it was challenging job to find the Lack of Skilled Manpower to Work in hotel.

He also Share although the price of Coke was priced Rs3.30 at that time. People find it luxury to enter to the hotel. It took long time to change the perception of the people. The participant’s listened enthusiastically to tales of his early days.
After the guest speaker concluded his deliberation speech, the floor was set open for interaction among the participants for an hour where Mr. Rajan clarifies the participant’s queries. Mr Binay Kc and Pravin Rimal , handover the token of love to the guest speaker and she also shared some of journey of her work. The Program was formally ended at 5:30 and before heading for tea and informal networking. The program was organized at the venue of Hotel Namaskar,Biratnagar. Total numbers of 79 participants took part in the program.
