Friday Discussion on Creating Jobs Vs Creating Wealth

Friday Discussion is a program designed to engage and inform the core members on the ideas of free market economy and classical liberal ideas. Discussions are made on the contemporary issues (local or national) through free market perspective. Article is selected and shared within the members to prepare oneself for the program. The program is organized at the venue of Hotel Namaskar, Biratnagar on every alternative Friday (twice a month).

The members of the Friday Discussion Group sat down at Hotel Namaskar Bar , on the 30th of September to discuss the article ‘” रोजगार सिर्जना कि सम्पत्ति निर्माण्’ by Dwight R. Lee.

The author first states that Creating jobs  is one of the  medium of increasing property, usually the analysis of effectiveness of Government policies is determined on the basis of how much Job it had created. Additionally, the author says that, by making such ideas popular, they are unknowing by describing wealth rather than creating it.
The members of the group then floated their concerns over the authors’ analyses of the issues.

The discussion started with the point that we should find our possibilities for creating the wealth. Some participant thought as an agricultural country Nepal should focus on it’s agricultural sector putting forth with some examples like due to unacceptability of transport service our country, Apple is not getting market place.  While in discussion most of the participants did not agreed with one other. Some argued that Nepal should operate Protectionist Policy to promote the goods of Nepal inside the country. However, some other participants by giving the example of Market policy, refuted this view and pointed that this policy will lead to economic Suicide. Instead we should focus on to increase the labor productivity of our country.on final thoughts everybody agreed on it’s only the way by maximizing the economic freedom, the poor can create wealth and generate income for themselves which would help country to be prosperous.
