Friday Discussion is a program designed to engage and inform the core members on the ideas of free market economy and classical liberal ideas. Discussions are made on the contemporary issues (local or national) through free market perspective. Article is selected and shared within the members to prepare oneself for the program. The program is organized at the venue of Hotel Namaskar, Biratnagar on every alternative Friday (twice a month).
On this series, discussion was made on the Article of “Myths and Facts about Free Markets”, where 13 numbers of participants took part to discuss their views. It was hot and live discussion where participants discussed on the Free Market and it’s Myth. A free market is a market in which economic intervention and regulation by the state is limited to tax collection and enforcement of private ownership and contracts. Free markets are observed as important tool around the world which brings economic growth and prosperity. Hundreds of millions of people have been pulled out of grinding deprivation of poverty through free market. Due to having the crab notion that free market hurt the poor and their right we are miles far away from it. As we know that to function freely and properly markets need certain institution such as rule, properly enforced contract law and strong secure private Property rights. This is drawback of the current situation of our country. In a social democracy with economic stagnation like our countries, there we find envy, resentment, unrest, where people are demanding government benefits instead of demanding to keep more of what they earn.
Some of the friends argued that we cannot depend on everything to the market it will not be fair because rich will have so much more than poor. On contrary to it the role of the government is important in free market to run properly. Our whole discussion was focused on adopting of the free market and bringing prosperity through a free market economy. The program was held on 14th August 2015, at 4:45 pm and Program was ended at 6:30 pm.
