Udhyami ka Kura with Mr Roshan Khadka

On 27 April 2023, Bikalpa- an Alternative, in association with CIPE , organized an entrepreneurship talk show program called “Udhyami ka Kura” at Hotel Shree Krishna in Biratnagar. The program aimed to inspire and motivate young aspiring entrepreneurs with real-life stories of successful businesspersons and provide them with a networking platform for idea sharing.

Mr. Roshan Khadka was invited as a guest speaker at a recent event. Mr. Roshan Khadka,is the proprietor of Hotel Shree Krishna and Hotel Manasalu and a leading businessperson. The event began with a welcoming speech from Mrs. Ranu Sah, the program associate of Bikalpa an Alternative, at 3:30 pm. The guest speaker,  shared his inspiring entrepreneurship journey with the audience.

In his speech, Mr. Khadka shared his journey of becoming an entrepreneur, which started from humble beginnings. He was born and raised in Gothgau village, Morang, and he faced several challenges in his early life due to his low-income background. After completing his SLC exam, he worked as a surveyor for the Krishi Ganak program and did a teaching job for six months. Unfortunately, Mr. Khadka’s father passed away during that time, making him responsible for himself. He then came to Biratnagar for further studies and worked mu. He quit multiple jobs in different industries and did some odd Jobs before he found his path, Thapa clarifies. “Right before he started his journey in Party Palace here in Biratnagar, he was doing business of Tea Leaf. He also tells us that he kept changing his path by following his gut at every step of the way. Till he ended up here,” he reflects.

During his talk, Mr. Khadka emphasized the importance of perseverance and courage in pursuing one’s dreams. He shared how he started his catering and tent house business by borrowing money from his brother and buying second-hand materials in Patna. He also shared how he worked from 6 am to 10 pm and faced several challenges during the initial period.

After being established in the tent house and catering business, Mr. Khadka thought of opening a party palace in Biratnagar, where there was no concept of a party palace at that time. He shared his idea with his friend and opened a Sagarmatha party palace, which became successful. Today, Mr. Khadka has established his party palace and hotel, employing more than 100 people.

During his speech, Mr. Khadka also emphasized the importance of maintaining good relations with employees. He shared that he has a family relationship with his employees; some have worked with him for over 25 years. This kind of employee relationship has helped him grow his business.

However, Mr. Khadka’s journey was challenging. The biggest challenge he faced was during the pandemic when he had recently started his new hotel, Hotel Manaslu, and had to shut down all his hotels and party palaces. Despite this setback, Mr. Khadka remains optimistic and encourages young entrepreneurs to think entrepreneurially and add value to society. He also urged young people to engage in other activities to enhance their skills and self-development.

After he finished talking about entrepreneurship, he also took in questions from the audience. The audience, eager to participate, asked insightful questions. 136 people attended the event held at Hotel Shree Krishna Biratnagar.
