Liberty Discussion on ” Postmodernism and Democratization of Money”

Liberty Discussion is a program designed to engage and inform the core members on the ideas of market economy and classical liberal ideas. Discussions are made on the contemporary issues (local or national) through open market perspective. The article is selected and shared within the members to prepare oneself for the program. The program is organized at the venue of Bikalpa – an Alternative on every alternative Saturday (twice a month).

An interactive discussion with Dr Shital Green Dahal was organized in Liberty Discussion. The session started at 4:10 pm at Bikalpa office on Saturday, 5th October 2019. As money is important as medium of exchange of good in today’s economic world. It was serious topic to discuss and get conversation about it how it was started. Who invented it? How to it came to existence and is still prevalent.  During the discussion, titled “”Post modernizing/ democratizing Money”,” Dr. Shital Green Dahal provided insight into the different schools of thought regarding the origin of money that shape the philosophical view. He talked about the alternative of the money by sharing the story of island where he told to exchange the good the rock was the collateral for the villagers. Meanwhile in discussion he told when government saw the power in the money then he started to hold and regulate it. He also criticized the policy about the money where he said it had been more than forty years since the central bank of the Nepal had not changed their policy. He shared we should to find the alternative of the money such as cryptocurrencies where these currencies can exist outside the realm of authority and regulation. Further discussion went on when participants from the audience came up with some queries about the money, politics, and happiness and had well conversation. There were 15 participants in the discussion.
