As a part of Bikalpa Fellowship, Bikalpa has been conducting a series of capacity building trainings, workshop and various networking events. These students are then provided series of capacity building trainings, exposure and events to enhance their overall skills. As a part of building their capacity, Bikalpa organized a week-long professional development workshop, titled Bikalpa’s Pathshala.
Bikalpa’s Pathshala is a week-long training program targeted at fresh graduates and professionals who are looking to hone their professional skills by integrating research-oriented approaches to their learning in a holistic work environment. The program consists of a week-long indoor session.
A total of 8 participants from various education background were selected through a two-phase selection procedure. The participants went through 18 hours of session that covered research methodology, sampling methods, questionnaire development and open data toolkit workshop to strengthen their research capabilities. There were dedicated sessions on contemporary issues, focusing mainly on political economy of Nepal in general. The students also went through two group discussion; one on Poverty and Trade, and a research paper discussion on Paratransit transportation in Biratnagar.
A 2 hours session on IT skills were also conducted where the participants followed by dedicated sessions on public policy and Monitoring and Evaluation. The students also had two sessions dedicated to effective writing. At the end of the 6 days of trainings, the students were tasked with preparing an opinion articles on their research topic which they had pitched earlier in the training. The opinion editorials will be published in Bikalpa’s online portal after further evaluation.
