A Short Hike From Letang to Raja Rani

Bikalpa has been organizing hiking trips to nearby locations on a regular basis since 2016, which has now become an event for reconnection between Bikalpa fellow members and other professional youth. The event’s objective is also to bring together young people who have been part of our programs and create a space for learning with them. People from various age groups, professions, and ethnicities regularly participate in this event. This hiking also served as a reunion for people associated with Bikalpa in various capacities.

Due to the upsurge of Omicron variant of COVID 19 in January, hiking was rescheduled to 5th February 2022. The Hiking spot was explored and a hidden gem located on the outskirt of Letang, Raja Rani Lake was selected. Rajarani Lake is also a tourist destination with historical and religious significance located in Morang District. It is located about 50 km northeast of Biratnagar.

An application for the hiking was opened, which received overwhelming response with close to 85 applications that included participants from earlier events like Bikalpa fellowship participants and supporters. 49 people from various cities of Province no. 1 participated in the hiking, as the team began its journey with a bus-ride from Biratnagar to Letang early in the morning at 7:45 am.

During a journey hour We had a short stopover at Belbari chowk for morning breakfast which lasted for an hour. After reaching Fadani Chowk in Letang, the hiking team began their journey crossing Chisyang river and seeing mesmerizing natural view of Letang. Since the weather was cold and rainy the road of hiking trail was slippery and muddy. So, it took nearly 1 hours to reach the destination, Raja Rani Lake. Upon reaching their destination, the team spent 2 hours in the temple premise, Raja Rani Lake taking pictures, interacting and networking with each other.

 

After enjoying snacks and indigenous beverages at Rajarani, the hiking team finally made their way back through the muddy road and headed back to Biratnagar. The Hiking event created an opportunity to bring participants closer to Bikalpa, which also helped to create visibility of the organization.
