Executive Vice President Mackinac Center for Public Policy
Michael J. Reitz is executive vice president of the Mackinac Center for Public Policy in Midland, Michigan. Trained as a lawyer, Reitz works with colleagues to make the Mackinac Center’s vision of “advancing liberty and opportunity for all” a reality. Thanks to the Mackinac Center’s work, Michigan students and families enjoy many educational options; Uber drivers can operate without automatically being deemed criminals; Michigan’s governor is not permitted to declare endless emergencies; and taxpayers are not forced to subsidize Hollywood production companies.
Reitz is active among other free-market public policy organizations. He is a member of the American Enterprise Institute’s Leadership Network and was co-chair of the Atlas Network’s 2019 Global Influencer Summit. He is a board member of the Michigan Coalition for Open Government, Detroit Prosperity Center and People United for Privacy. In 2021, the State Policy Network recognized Reitz with its prestigious Overton Award.
