On, Saturday, 21 March 2020 regular participants gathered on the Bikalpa office for the regular formal Liberty Discussion. The discussion was titled in Article “Why are some countries rich and some countries poor?”
The discussion started with looking into the relationship between rich and poor countries. While having a discussion on this issue, some of the participants witnessed that in today’s world economically free countries are far better than non-economically free countries. There are some of the things in which a country should be focused on. Strong leadership in the political sphere, Strong institution and proper utilization of resources. While some others stated having a lack of a proper governance system in developing countries. It is a hard time to achieve economic prosperity.
The discussion further enfolded key insights on if there no individual freedom to carry out innovation then society will stagnate and there will be no economic prosperity in the country. The government’s focus should be on individual and economic freedom rather than curtailing it. Some other participants argued that in the present context Human resources are important for the development of any country. We need all kinds of skilled labor for economic development. The government should have a strong institution plan and policies for producing such skilled human resources. Further, they talked about the economic crisis, FDI and transfer of technology, the competitive advantage of the market, government and market role in the economy. Overall, the participants shared their valid statements on how some country’s growth is faster and creating wealth through adopting policies of Market economy.
