Udhyami Ka Kura with Bholeswor Dulal

Bikalpa- an Alternative with the support of Sahaj, organized an entrepreneurship talk show program called “Udhyami ka Kura” on 31 March 2023 at Hotel Shree Krishna Biratnagar. The program was organized to inspire and motivate aspiring entrepreneurs’ young generation with the real stories of entrepreneurs. The program also provides a platform to do networking and idea sharing.

Mr. Bholeshwor Dulal was invited as a guest speaker at a recent event. Mr. Dulal is the Managing Director of Purbanchal Lube Oil Pvt Ltd and is a leading business person. The session started with a welcoming speech by Mr. Shristika Neupane, Research Officer of Bikalpa An Alternative, at 3:30 pm.

Mr. Dulal shared his story of starting his journey as an employee and how he worked his way up to becoming an entrepreneur. He said he was born in Urlabari Rajghat in 2032 BS and belonged to a farmer family. His father was a schoolteacher but passed away when he was only one year old. Despite facing economic challenges, he completed his SLC from Radhika Secondary School. After that, he had to move to his maternal uncle’s house and work on his further studies. From there, He completed his Certificate Level from Urlabari Campus.

While working at the Sanjivani machinery store, he became interested in business. At that time, he also explored different places in India, which helped him generate ideas. He decided to establish his business in Birat Chowk due to the presence of an Agriculture Bank and a subsidy in the agriculture business at that time. With a capital of 7000, he started Satkar Machinery, which focused on agriculture-related machinery. He also recalled that his decision to start his business in Birat Chowk proved fruitful due to the available resources related to his business idea.

He also shared that being open to exploring new opportunities and taking risks is essential. He then established his new business Purbanchal Lube oil business industry, in 2058 BS. His hard work, dedication, and perseverance helped him to make his Lube oil brand number one in Province 1. Currently, 1560 employees are working in that factory. He also stressed the importance of continuous learning and development, as staying ahead in the ever-changing business landscape is critical.

He mentioned that entrepreneurship is not about being born into a wealthy family but about setting clear goals and working hard to achieve them. He also emphasized the importance of learning from mistakes and continuously improving oneself. He said he runs over two dozen organizations today due to his positive attitude and hard work. He believes focusing on work is the key to success and works 18 hours daily. Mr. Dulal has also shared some of his experiences from foreign countries that he learned during his travels. These experiences have helped him to improve his business skills and expand his business network.

During his Speech he also talked about his passion for social work and leadership development. He shared that he had the opportunity to lead a large group of young people through his involvement with Jaycees Nepal. He also recited the exciting incident in which he received advice from his Canadian trainer during his business training in Spain about the importance of becoming a leader within an organization to succeed. Mr. Dulal has taken this advice to heart and has used his experiences in social work to grow as a leader. Further, He also added that he frequently travels after completing his work. He has already traveled to more than 118 countries. Travel can broaden one’s horizons and help one develop new perspectives, leading to creativity and innovation in their work. He said travel experiences had had a positive impact on him both personally and professionally.

He also highlighted the country’s economic scenario in Nepal and the importance of interest rates and balanced trade for the growth of businesses. He said interest rates are crucial to the country’s economic growth, affecting borrowing, lending, and investment decisions. High-interest rates can discourage investment and borrowing, while low-interest rates can stimulate economic activity by encouraging businesses to invest and expand. While discussing trade imbalances, he expressed that we should import more than we export, which can lead to a shortage of foreign currency reserves and positively impact economic growth.

At the end of the session, attendees had the opportunity to ask questions and clarify their queries. Mr. Dulal answered questions related to business strategies, market trends, and personal experiences. The Q&A session was highly interactive and informative for the participants. Overall, the Udhyami ka Kura session with Mr. Bhola Dulal was insightful and provided valuable insights for aspiring entrepreneurs.
