Every Last Thursday of Gregorian month, Bikalpa an Alternative jointly organize the “Last Thursday’s” event at Biratnagar in coordination with Hotel Namaskar, E4N and Makalu Television. Objective of the program is to disseminate the ideas and knowledge about entrepreneurship through the sharing of successful entrepreneurs. Also the program creates an opportunity to do networking and share ideas.
On 28th July, 2016, Entrepreneur Reema Shrestha joined us for our continual series of ‘Last Thursdays’ at Hotel Namaskar for a discussion on the existing scenario of industry in the Biratnagar with over more than 60 people.
The program started with moderator Basanta Adhikari, Bikalpa an Alternative Director addressing the audience. He introduced everyone about the program and shared the objective of program.
She shared her life story and her struggles at home and aboard during her interactions with the students. She completed her schooling from Arniko secondary School. After completing Higher Studies from Little Angle College Kathmandu. She flew away to the Singapore to pursue her studies in Hotel Management. After coming back to Nepal She started to work in Hotel Radisson. She states that she wanted to work because she wanted to know about the union. She stressed about the importance of friendship in personal and professional life and the important role played by her Dad, Late Yuba Raj Shrestha in shaping her as a person. It was her father and mentor from whom she had learnt a lot of things in her life. She believes that only those who start a business are not entreprenuers but also those who bring new ideas to run an already established business is also an entreprenuer. Her message for Youth was students to look for the passion in them and work hard to achieve it and not just look for fame and money. “If you believe in your work and work hard for it. Fame and money will follow. ” She also said start from small so that you can gain experience to handle big thing in near your future.
She also talked about her stint at Rotract and how being in the social circle helped her in builidng public relation. She also informed the youths that the most important part of being an entreprenuer is to be brave enough to work with new ideas.
After the guest speaker speech, participants had a open discussion with the speaker for one hour where the speaker clarifies the participant’s queries Participants asked numerous questions throughout the program and engaged in a lively wrap-up discussion.
After the open discussion, program was formally ended at 5:10 pm for tea, snacks and informal networking. The program was telecasted (recorded) by Makalu television.
