Liberty Discussion on “Should Prostitution be Legalized”

Liberty Discussion is a program designed to engage and inform the core members on the ideas of free market economy and classical liberal ideas. Discussions are made on the contemporary issues (local or national) through free market perspective. Article is selected and shared within the members to prepare oneself for the program. The program is organized at the venue of Graduate Coach Biratnagar on every alternative Saturday (twice a month).

The members of the Liberty Discussion Group sat down at Graduate Coach, on the 6th May 2017 to discuss on the topic “Should Prostitution be Legalized”

In an hourly discussion the participant floated their opinion about the Article. Participant had different notion regarding the Topic. Some of the participants said prostitution should be legalized because it is human choice. Everybody had right to sell their skills and earn their livelihood. Furthermore, participant added it is also oldest traditional business. It had huge market place in the foreign country. It also helps in generating income for the economy. Since it is not regulated market here many workers had to be exploited and had to face hurdle in society. Strong regulation should be made to safeguard their rights and dignity. Many more facts and figures were flowed in the support of legalization of Prostitution. During the discussion other participants also expressed their disagreement on the statement. Since our society is in infant stage and there are a lot reform that had to be made.  Many people are unaware and illiterate about the health issues. It is not feasible to legalize the prostitution. Many people are unaware about the health issues. It will create huge problem in the society. Government should find the solution to address the issue. The debate was mostly centered on idea of legalization and not legalization. As, time was limited members could not discuss more on these issues even though they desired to.
