Liberty Discussion on “Rich getting richer and Poor getting Poor : Myth or Reality”

Liberty Discussion is a program designed to engage and inform the core members on the ideas of market economy and classical liberal ideas. Discussions are made on the contemporary issues (local or national) through open market perspective. The article is selected and shared within the members to prepare oneself for the program. The program is organized at the venue of Bikalpa – an Alternative on every alternative Saturday (twice a month).

On, Saturday,11 May 2019 regular participants gathered on the Bikalpa office for the regular formal Liberty Discussion. The discussion was titled in Article “Public enterprises vs private enterprises.”

The discussion started with looking into the relationship between wealth inequality and economic growth. While talking about this issue,  Some of the participants stated that It is a reality in today’s world Richest 1 percent hold 82 percent of the wealth in their hand which is making rich richer and poor poorer. Although there is a massive fall in extreme poverty in a developed country it is crucial in the least developed countries. Some others argued we cannot make everybody equal but we should make an equal playing field for all. Indeed, the Government should focus on improving the living standard of the people by making feasible policies. In this quest, some participants shared “Instead of good policy intention, we need to focus on the policy of outcome” will bring change in the society. It’s not myth entrepreneurial spirit and trade will not take the country to prosperity.  There was 14 attendee in the discussion.
