The members of the Liberty Discussion Group sat down at BCPS College , on the 25th March 2017 to discuss on the topic “Capital Punishment”

The discussion started with criticism by one of the participants who regarded Capital Punishment as philosophy of proportionality which means an eye for eye. Although this law was introduced from ancient time. They didn’t have to give philosophical justification to make law at that time. He argues that if principle of proportionality rule then why a rapist is not raped and that’s why it’s not justifiable. Principle of proportionality doesn’t run. He also added people don’t have right to die. I personally believe. People come in rage, people come in emotion, people come in Anger, so that they make take action to death. Another participant also supported this argument by specifying that Capital Punishment is just like violating the human rights. It is not voluntary action. So, instead of it the perpetrator should be imprisoned for his life time. The debate was mostly centered on idea that we should not advocate for the capital punishment. Though the participants couldn’t come to a reasonable conclusion. The session ended with a lot of the participants’ concerns discussed upon, and a general understanding.
