Every Last Thursday of Gregorian month, Bikalpa – an Alternative jointly organize the “Last Thursday’s” event at Biratnagar in collaboration with Hotel Namaskar, Makalu Television and Merryland College (BBA) Biratnagar. Objective of the program is to disseminate the ideas and knowledge about entrepreneurship through the personal sharing of successful entrepreneurs. Also the program creates an opportunity to do networking and share ideas among the participants.
The 45th Last Thursday with an Entrepreneur held on 29th November, 2018 was held in Hotel Namaskar Biratnagar. The Guest Speaker for the program was Mr. Beni Gopal Mundra
Beni Gopal Mundra hails from a Marwari family and was born and raised in Biratnagar. As the Founder and Vice Chairman of Devanara Group and Industries, Mundra has broad range of experience in Business and industries. Recalling his early childhood and about his first business he shared while Studying in a Nepali medium school, Mundra used to take a sack with him to go to school. He passed his school level education from Satyanarayan School Biratnagar and did his B.Com from Mahendra Morang College. Mundra operated his business starting with small Shop called “Foreign Good “where he used to sell imported goods. During that period, it was not easy to do business. It used to take 3 days to reach to Kathmandu and bring goods from there. When you’re an entrepreneur, every day is a different battle. Every day, you wake up and tackle multiple challenges – some old and some new. But we need to focus on your work quoting with his own example: He said “You can’t do anything alone. We need cooperation and collaboration to run the business “. We are four brothers and it is all our combined efforts with which we had built up this business empire.
He further added. Having idea is not enough. You need a good executer for it. So, hire the right people who are fit to execute your plan. You also need to have a faith and courage within yourself. If you want to be successful then you have to self-personal discipline. Have a good working time schedule so that you can do everything in time.
Speaking of challenges, Mundra says, “Although we are providing more than 2500 jobs today. Our biggest challenge so far has been to grow and scale our business at an adequate level. The government policy is not business friendly. They don’t listen to problem of the entrepreneur. We need to advocate for the environment for budding entrepreneur to grow. After his deliberation the guest speaker answered the queries of participants. More than 120 attended the session of Last Thursday’s.
