Friday Discussion is a program designed to engage and inform the core members on the ideas of free market economy and classical liberal ideas. Discussions are made on the contemporary issues (local or national) through free market perspective. Article is selected and shared within the members to prepare oneself for the program. The program is organized at the venue of Hotel Namaskar, Biratnagar on every alternative Friday (twice a month).
Education development is potentially a key factor for development of country. It helps in reducing the poverty, rising over all levels of labor productivity and economic growth and improving the quality of life. There is huge debate regarding the education policy system of Nepal. While access to all levels of education levels of the education system has increased considerably, there is a large difference in gross enrollment rates across geographic / ecological areas and income levels. Due to the absence of private school in the in the rural part of Nepal. There is a huge bridging gap between public and private school.
As per our regular discussion on this week we discussed about the education choice. There are two types of education system in our country. State run education (public) and private education (Boarding School). As we know the government had huge spending on public education to empower its citizen but it’s performance is not well compared to private. During the discussion some supported that private education are commercialized and they are only profit oriented and many of poor family can’t afford it. Arguing on it some said due to lack of Accountability among the teacher and management regarding the school the performance of is poor. So it would better for government to issue the voucher system or switch the government school to public to private partnership model.
The program was held on 19 June 2015, from 4:35 pm onward. Discussion was very helpful to understand on how trade benefits the developing countries like Nepal by entering into the global market. Program ended at 6:35 pm.
