Friday Discussion is a program designed to engage and inform the core members on the ideas of free market economy and classical liberal ideas. Discussions are made on the contemporary issues (local or national) through free market perspective. Article is selected and shared within the members to prepare oneself for the program. The program is organized at the venue of Hotel Namaskar, Biratnagar on every alternative Friday (twice a month).
On this series, discussion was made on the Article of “On Liberty”, where 8 numbers of participants took part to discuss their views. It was hot and live discussion where participants discussed .

Discussions ranged from different prospect from political thought to economic progress of the country. As we know liberty is the key concept in politics, economics and philosophy. Liberty can be defined as not being interfered with, or not being imposed on, by others (non-invasive liberty). It demands the rule of law and that no one should be allowed to initiate violence against others. It is proponent of individual freedom. It means every individual had freedom to do whatever he/she likes without interfere of similar rights of others. Such as they have the freedom to act for a living, associate with others voluntarily, trade with whoever you like, you can speak and publish freely, run your own business and live as long as you please. Hence to safeguard these rights the role of government is very much Important. The primary functions of a government hence are maintenance of law and order, administration of justice, protection of a country from foreign invasion and protection of civil liberties.

It was hot and Lively Discussion. While in discussion some of the participants argued that due to the political instability and Rule of Law in governance system together had created an anarchic society in our country. Some of them argued that more freedom to the people can create chaos in Society. Some other argued by saying that our government had not done anything for the welfare of the citizens However, our government seems to have failed in all of its primary functions of maintaining Rule of Law, Protection of Life and Property.

The whole discussion also made us re-think about nature of our society. We are culturally programmed in collectivism nature of the society. Our society is rigidly collective in nature and all the economic and social sphere of the citizen has always been controlled by the state
