Climate Change and DRR

Project Impact: Contribute to Improved resilience of vulnerable communities to natural disasters, particularly floods. Project Outcomes: To help flood affected poor communities to recover from floods in target locations in Nawalparasi district.
Project Goal: Secured livelihoods of floods affected people in Nawalparasi district of Nepal. Project Outcomes: To help disaster affected poor families recover livelihoods through goat enterprise.
Project Goal: Improved esilience of Vulnerable communities to natural disasters, particularly floods. Project Outcomes: Established flood resistant homes and community infrastructures in flood affected poor settlements.
• Contingency planning at community, district and organizational level
• Initial rapid assessment of disasters, response systems
• Relief and response focusing on WASH in emergencies
• Promoting of humanitarian principles, Sphere and common humanitarian standards
• Engagement in 3 earthquake affected districts (Dolkha, Ramechhap, and Sindhupalchowk)
• Cash for work and in-kind (relief items) distribution in 2005, 2006 and 2007 flood response in Nawalparasi and Saptari.

Education and Livelihood

The key objective of this program is to bring children out of poverty by nurturing them on a journey from education to livelihood. Overall goal of the project is “To increase school enrollment of children, especially girls complete secondary schooling with appropriate learning levels with enhancing school participation in Nawalparasi District. MBIF will leverage its experience of using Sports for Development (S4D) to bring about behavioral and attitudinal change and look at issues of school education, preventing drop out, improving teaching and learning environment of building capacity of youth leaders in the community.

The main objectives of ISLP is  to improve livelihoods of two VDCs poor and vulnerable communities by enhancing their ability to make a living an economically, socially and environmentally sustainable manner  through enhanced food security, diversified income generating options and capacity building of people.
